Volkswagen is showcasing a special Collectors Edition of the new Scirocco at this year's Essen Motor Show, Germany's main tunning event. This special edition of Volkswagen's new coupé is limited to 100 units and is characterized for its black and white theme. The exterior is finished in a special Oryx White paint job and the wheels are fitted with 19" Lugano alloys in a polished finish. Xenon headlights and a panoramic sunroof complete the car's exterior main features. Inside, the black and white theme is also present in the dual-tone leather sports seats. Power for this car comes from Volkswagen's 2.0 liter TSI engine which develops 200 hp and is coupled to a DSG gearbox.

Performance Car of the Year 2008.

The british magazine Autoexpress included the new Scirocco in the Performance Car of the Year 2008 competition. The new Scirocco was put up against nineteen other performance cars and finished in a good overall 15th place. New Scirocco Receives Design Award.

More than 40.000 readers of the german magazine Autobild have elected the new Scirocco as the most beautiful in the category "Sports Cars and Coupés". Professor Dr. Martin Winterkorn, head of Volkswagen AG, received the trophy during the opening phase of the 2008 Paris Autoshow. The new Scirocco is said to give new emotions to an automotive legend and at the same time introduce a design language to be used by the brand in future developments.

The concept of an affordable sports cars is set to become generally accepted against the competition from the more expensive luxury segment. Although the new Scirocco brings back the spirit of the first generation, Volkswagen consciously acheived this goal without retro elements. The new Scirocco convinced the readers by its fresh and strong design. Combined with its sporty character, the new Scirocco offers a maximum of security for four adults and a sense of everyday life fitness like any other Volkswagen.

Update: Improved Aerodynamics.

New pictures of the aerodynamic kit for the new Scirocco emerge. Named "Sport and Style", this package includes a number of features that improve the overall aerodynamics of the car. Parallel to that, it also gives the car an even more agressive look.

Improved Aerodynamics.

Volkswagen has just released the first picture of an aerodynamic kit soon to be avaiable for the new Scirocco. Improved aerodynamics are obtained thanks to:

• Front bumper spoiler
• Side skirts
• Rear bumper fascia
• Roof spoiler

The kit is to be presented publicly this week at the Automechanika Show in Frankfurt. It sure gives the new Scirocco an extra agressive look.

That will be the starting price for the new Scirocco when it hits the portuguese market in the 12th of September. In Portugal you have four different engine choices, three TSI (122, 160 and 200 hp) and one TDI (140 hp), combined with two trim levels, Scirocco and Scirocco Sport. The latter throws in automatic air conditioning, 18'' Interlagos alloys, cruise control, fully electric door mirrors and a CD-playing radio with touchscreen and a 6 CD capacity. The Scirocco Sport with the 2.0 liter TSI engine (200 hp) represents the most expensive Scirocco in the portuguese market.
