The british magazine Autoexpress included the new Scirocco in the Performance Car of the Year 2008 competition. The new Scirocco was put up against nineteen other performance cars and finished in a good overall 15th place. New Scirocco Receives Design Award.

More than 40.000 readers of the german magazine Autobild have elected the new Scirocco as the most beautiful in the category "Sports Cars and Coupés". Professor Dr. Martin Winterkorn, head of Volkswagen AG, received the trophy during the opening phase of the 2008 Paris Autoshow. The new Scirocco is said to give new emotions to an automotive legend and at the same time introduce a design language to be used by the brand in future developments.

The concept of an affordable sports cars is set to become generally accepted against the competition from the more expensive luxury segment. Although the new Scirocco brings back the spirit of the first generation, Volkswagen consciously acheived this goal without retro elements. The new Scirocco convinced the readers by its fresh and strong design.
